In 1795, three boys found a depression in the ground on a small island off Nova Scotia. Two hundred and thirty years, six lives and several fortunes later, nobody has reached the bottom of it.
As Above So Below approaches the mystery as an investigation rather than another excavation story. It asks whether evidence already sitting in plain sight — on the island, in the historical record and in the sky itself — can explain what generations of digging have failed to resolve.
The book's central claim is extraordinary: that around the year 1200 a Knights Templar-sponsored expedition crossed the Atlantic and concealed something of real value on Oak Island. It does not ask the reader to accept that claim on faith. It asks them to follow the evidence and judge it at the end.
The trail runs from the power struggles of medieval Europe to the present day, by way of an English duke who died of the plague, a French naval disaster, a man who bought himself out of slavery with an axe, and an old woman in New York told for fifty years that she was chasing nothing.

THE CASE
The argument develops through separate strands of evidence. The significance is not any one clue in isolation, but what happens when independently derived results begin to converge.
Five granite boulders, each weighing several tonnes, form a cross on Oak Island. Four stood on the surface, one was found buried and a sixth was dug up in 2003 where someone calculated it should be. They were placed exactly where they are, for a reason that nobody has yet explained.
The geometry is tested against the night sky as it stood in 1200, not the sky as it is now. Turn the clock back eight hundred years and lines that mean nothing today start landing on named stars.
A map dated 1347 surfaced in 2016 and was dismissed as a forgery within weeks. It marks features on Oak Island that nobody had found at the time. Its instructions are in cipher. Can it still be read?
THE TEST
The stone-and-star investigation and the document investigation were developed months apart by different methods. Read together, the three strands point at the same coordinate and what can be found there. The convergence provides the answer to the mystery and rewrites 800 years of accepted history.

Every stone position, stellar bearing and measurement is published for scrutiny, together with the coordinates, star tables, calculations, sources and reference code needed to reproduce the results. Nothing is presented as beyond checking.

THE AUTHOR
Conor Owens is a Dublin author, an accountant by training, and has spent his working life in financial services. He has never been to Oak Island. He came to the mystery through The Curse of Oak Island television show and, importantly, did not begin by believing the Templar theory.
What he brought to the mystery was a habit of mind: suspicion of numbers that are too round, a reflex for checking whether figures that ought to agree actually do, and an unwillingness to accept that something cannot be worked out.
One question refused to go away: why would a medieval military order have any interest in a small island off Nova Scotia three centuries before the conventional Columbus-era timeline?
As Above So Below is his first book.
